Treasures of the desert

The Sahara desert is a versatile landscape. Besides its golden sand dunes you will find many different kinds of plants and even trees growing. There are plenty of acacia trees, a few palms and then there is the special desert tree: turza. The purple-grey colored mountains mark a part of the border between Morocco and Algeria and are visible all along the road towards the breathtaking dune landscape. The road leads past several oases and across rocky hills where you can still find ancient fossils. The fossils are millions of years old and are an incredible proof that the ocean has existed in the Sahara desert. Different kind of animals that used to live in this ocean, have left their traces. These remains are yet today to be found in the desert.


On our trip deep into the Sahara, we will stop in some of these unique mountains. If you search well, you may discover one or two of these wonderful treasures.

While moving gently through the landscape, there is also a chance to meet its residents. Nomads still moving around with their animals such as camels and goats, but also wild donkeys, desert wolves, lizards, several kinds of snakes, endless kinds of birds and some wild camels. And if you are lucky and very silent, you can even spot a fennec fox.
