• A warm welcome and Moroccan tea in our home at Bani Hayoune Garden. If desired you can stay here the night before and after your trip.

Description of the tour

On this tour we travel on foot, so it is important that you bring good shoes or sandals and that you are fit. We bring dromedaries with us that will carry your luggage. We will ask you to leave unnecessary luggage at our home (in a safely locked room) so as not to overwhelm the dromedaries. Besides your luggage, they will carry our tents, water and food for each day.

Please note: the route varies each time. The sun is strong (almost) every day, and there is always the possibility of a sandstorm. Walking through the sand can be quite tough and there will be no shower or toilet during the whole trip. You can always let us know if you like to walk more or less, we are flexible and can always alter our route during the trip. 

 

We will depart in the morning / early afternoon after a delightful breakfast in our home at Bani Hayoune Garden. Walking through old kasbahs and villages, some abandoned and some still inhabited, we will slowly reach the dry Drâa river, surrounded by small dunes, acacia, palms and always the mountains at the horizon. We come across many kind of herbs, such as wild camomile and akaia; a plant used by locals as a medicine for the stomach, and we can show you how to find the resin of the acacia, used by nomads in their tea. We will walk through the dry river and among easily reachable mountain landscapes. Sometimes we come across a small lake and we will walk through several dune and also rocky landscapes. There are lots of beautiful stones to find on the route.

 

After a couple of hours walk, we find a place to settle and prepare tea and food. After a heartfelt lunch we either continue by foot or setup our camp for the night. There is lots of time to explore the beautiful surroundings, and we will prepare first tea and later dinner on a small fire, and you can experience the immense silence and vastness of the landscape. We will be far away from any noise or city lights. At night we make fire to warm ourselves up.

The next day we will continue walking after breakfast and after collecting our camp. We will continue our road further and setup the camp again in the late afternoon. In each trip we ensure sufficient breaks and walks in beautiful landscapes. It is up to you how many days we will walk and how far we walk. Because of this, no tour is the same and every tour is unique.​
